Patient Hunters

Patient Hunters. 24″ x 20″. Acrylic on Canvas. 2013.

Through my paintings I try to show a moment in time. Half of the fun of painting for me is learning about different environments, animals, and how everything interacts. Creating art gives me an escape and a quick view into the world I admire and respect, but the world that I do not have access to. This painting allows me to explore the Cheetah and Thompson’s Gazelle, and how they interact as hunter and prey. Cheetah’s often hunt in the morning or late afternoon, and have to get very close to their prey before they sprint to attack. These two are waiting until the perfect moment. The Cheetah on the right has noticed the few close remaining Gazelle’s, and has just stood up, getting ready to move.
