One afternoon this Red-tailed Hawk flew low over my yard and landed on an old telephone pole in the field behind my house. In the rush to photograph this bird I ran out, no shoes, to get some shots. I woman walking by was convinced this was a Peregrine Falcon, I didn’t want to waste time correcting her as I wanted to go around to get photos from the other side for the better lighting. This bird stayed put long enough for me to go around the fence and get the photos this painting is based on.
