Winter Birding

Winter Birding. 30″ x 24″. Acrylic on canvas. 2021.

Winter Birding often looks like driving around the countryside trying to spot Snowy Owls, Horned Larks and Snow Buntings. You’ll stop the car to check over a white lump in a field covered in a blanket of snow to realize what you’ve found is actually a plastic bag or a large snow ball. As you return to the car, a large flock of birds flies overhead, Snow Buntings. They move as one unit, giving you incredible views as they swoop and dive over the snow, landing occasionally to forage in the snow covered farm fields.
