I had been working on this commission for a few months, it is finally finished so here is some painting process! Abandoned - framed! Abandoned all framed up! I took this reference while hiking in the woods. It was time! My last batch of business cards (from about a decade ago) just ran out. Newest painting! I loved pushing the warm tones of the fall foliage to get that autumn glow. While hiking off trail I found an abandoned structure in the forest. Searching for things like old sheds, foundations, structures and bones in the forest is one of my favourite ways to hike. I knew as soon as I saw it that I needed to paint it. Every painting I’ve done has been based on a personal experience I’ve had while hiking or travelling. To get reference photos and inspiration for paintings, I spend a lot of time exploring, hoping I will come across a buck, coyotes, or other wildlife. Here’s the trick to seeing more wildlife in the city: spend more time outside!
